At its foundation, digital advertising, also known as digital marketing and Internet marketing and online advertising, is when one party trades value with another for the purpose of gaining exposure to an audience via the Internet under predetermined agreements and conditions.
The party who purchases exposure to an audience is known as the ‘advertiser’. The party who grants exposure to an audience is known as the ‘publisher’. Digital advertising is the activity of an ‘advertiser’ purchasing exposure / access to an audience from a ‘publisher’ and as a result is permitted to promote an offer to that audience via the Internet.
It is commonplace for the ‘advertiser’ and the ‘publisher’ to first agree upon the terms of an advertising campaign; like what offer will be promoted, how that offer will be promoted, the cost of the promotion, when and where that promotion will be executed and more. As long as the advertising campaign is executed utilizing the power of the Internet; at it’s core, this activity is known as digital advertising and it is an excellent way for companies to increase their revenues and profitability.
